    Thinking of buying a Mac...

    I'm told they cant get viruses.

    Not true.

    However if you want a Mac get one. They are fine computers for most home users. However if you are unsure, unless you are a student in a mac supported environment, you will probably have far more support options with a standard PC and Windows 7. Open Office and (another option) IBM Symphony are free for use, Avast is a good free anti-virus for home use, and there are far more available software applications for the PC. You also generally get a faster system for less money when dealing with a PC.

    I'm actually replacing a Mac next week with a PC because the person using it can't figure out how to edit a web page and there are so many free programs for the PC that he will save money using freeware and Windows instead of buying stuff for his Mac since nobody he knows has any knowledge of Mac.

    They're not immune from viruses. It's just simply because the PC market is far more vast, PCs are a larger target for virus writers.
