1999- Grand Prix GTP
NewEgg doesn't always have the best price...
I just found this out yesterday and it surprised the hell out of me. In the past, I had always found newegg.com to have the best prices around. I always assumed that brick and mortar store couldn't hope to compete with an online only store, but I was mistaken....
Core i7 920 at newegg.com: $288

Core i7 920 at microcenter.com: $199

intel Core 2 Quad 9550 at newegg.com: $259
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115041
intel Core 2 Quad 9550 at microcenter.com: $169

I bought both of these processors today at microcenter and saved a few hundred bucks, which I think is way cool. Their prices for ram, HDD's, graphic's cards is about the same as newegg so that's cool.
Not affiliated with either company, just wanted to pass along the info. Some of these deals are in-store only, so hopefully you have one nearby.

(Pssssst.....Walmart isn't always the cheapest either)
It always pays to shop around no matter what you're buying

for me newegg offers excellent prices AND customer service. You'll have to update the thread with your experience with microcenter. I wouldn't be opposed to trying a different place for sure but customer service is pretty important to me and something I would pay extra for.

I actually went into the store for the purchase, it was not online. Hopefully, everything works as it's supposed to and I won't have to find out if thier customer support is any good. :-)

There's a MicroCenter in northern metro Atlanta that I usually go to because they have excellent prices, and plus, I'm usually too impatient to wait for shipping on anything unless it's that much larger of a price different.
That being said, newegg is still a great place to shop, as are many other sites. It was already mentioned previously in the thread, but it is always good to shop around at a variety of places, regardless of what you're buying.

Try this site for computer parts
www.pricewatch.com
Many different vendors advertise there and you can view their seller ratings.
I have ordered from several there and had good experiences with most.
