Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
Monitor and CPU recommendations...
My PC took a shit within the last few days. Typical.
Getting a decent return, so I was looking to upgrade the box.
AMD or Intel? Not looking to drop anymore than $100 on the proc.
Probably go with an Asus board...anyone else have recommendations?
I don't game...the biggest thing I do on the PC is video editting (proc, not video card) so thinking cheaper video card (or even onboard video).
As for monitors...I have an old ass CRT. Time for something nicer. No more than $175-200 though. Thinking 21.5" is more than enough for me.
TIA!

Liking that price on the 22" monitor.
I found this proc...liking it right now.

I have a case, I have my HDD's, and my optical drives.
Otherwise a full cased machine may be an option.

Looking to upgrade motherboards as well.
Liking the AMD AM3 socket. Fairly cheap, will do more than I need it too, and it will be upgradeable in the future.
Sounds like AMD is coming out with a 6 core processor that will be using the AM3 socket set. Not that I need that...

Okay, that makes a huge difference then. And do be sure you install the 64-bit version of Windows 7. I'm running it on my rig and love it. I'm gonna buy the 64-bit version of PS CS4 Extended soon.
I'm running the old MSI K8N Neo. It's one of the first 64-bit supported main boards.

This is what I have so far...
Looking like I will need HDD's, which kinda sucks, but I can upgrade a little bit (since my current ones are IDE anyways).
2 LiteOn DVD burners (SATA)
2 Seagate 7200 RPM HDD's (one for OS, one for multimedia)(SATA)
ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AM3 AMD 785G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus 2.6GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor Model ADX620WFGIBOX
Kingston RAM (4 GB, DDR3(1333))
$500

The monitor I got off Newegg.com is the Samsung SyncMaster TOC T240 24" HDMI widescreen display and I love it. I'm not sure if it's still available or not, but you could check.
Here's a picture of mine.

I actually priced out a decent one at Target today while Sara and I were there.
Still researching everything, but I think I am set aside from finding a monitor.
Looking in the $150-175 range for monitor.
Not sure I need a 24" one...

Do your have a Fry's electronics in your area? They offer some killer deals alot of times. For a monitor, I recommend the Dell ST2410. Usually get it for $170-$180.
If it was me, and i know its out of your budget, but I'd the i5 750. Just as good as the i7 but without hyperthreading. For what you do, you'll never ever need HT anyways,
As far as mobo's, anything from Asus, Gigabyte, MSI would be good. Also, take a look at ASROCK, its basically just an Asus w/out all the overclocking abilities. Great boards for the price.
