Well, if you travel a lot they are nice to have. Obviously you can't take a desktop with you.

cons of lap top...
can't pop a panel off and toss in more ram...
cons of desk top...
can't travel with it...

Depends what kind of laptop you get. A lot of them, or at least the ones I work with are very easy to upgrade.. Of course, not as easy as a desktop.. But maybe 5-10 minutes to add/remove RAM.

If you get an all integrated PC you might as well get a lap top. Some of the worst things with laptops is the heat. They heat up and cut down CPU time if you don't have a cooler running under them. They hard drives fry much easier. Anything outside of swapping a bad hard drive or ram if anything else goes wrong you have to send it in. If you need to be portable get a small convertible laptop or tablet. Very nice small and does everything a full size laptop can do without all the extra weight. You can get one of those and a regular PC for the price of a gaming laptop.

Silver- 2016 Dodge Challenger
I used to build my own desktops. Got kinda old. I now used a laptop with wireless keyboard and mouse. If I wanna take it somewhere I unplug it. Aslso have an external hd hooked up. I see no point in a desktop anymore.
