Navy Blue Metallic- 2000 T/A Firehawk M6
Gran Turismo 5 - So close yet so far edition
Reports coming in from all over the net. GT5 has been spotted in the wild. People in Australia are playing it... People in eastern europe are playing it. Pictures of retail packaging are popping up everywhere. Youtube is getting flooded with different copies of the intro cinematic.... all 7+ minutes of it. Gameplay footage and the video of the menus are showing up. Screen caps of the menus and tracks....
Yet STILL no word from Sony on a release date.
Amazon still lists a Dec 31 date despite reports that retailers already have their hands on the discs.
Word has come out that the reason for the delay was due to the team missing their production window by only 3 days. meaning that while a Nov 2 launch was suddenly impossible.... nothing stopping a Nov 9 launch..... which appears to have not happened lol.
Word has it that the Target in Brooklyn already has GT5 running on their PS3 display kiosk..... all the evidence points to an imminent release.
WHY WON'T SONY SAY WHEN!?!?!
FYI current rumors suggest that Nov 30 is the new date.

I'm telling you, when You finally get it, You'll be introduced to a BEAUTIFUL intro movie, a loading screen, and then menus that all work flawlessly to bring you to another movie.
That's right. Another movie. Never gonna give you up by Rick Astley.

if you are looking for top speed you should be running on the circuit de la sarthe. the old course without the chicanes. i've topped out pretty much anything i've thrown down that 3.7 mile long straight. In real life race cars would routinely top 250mph so they needed to add the chicanes to reduce the number of tire failures they were seeing on that track.

I meant see how fast i can get them to go around the ring not top speed. I can pretty much top out any car on the straight at the ring if you go to the end and turn around. Its downhill once you turn around. Most race cars in real life can even do 250mph as they are not setup for top speed.

Ah.... well in that case....you've got nothing on me.... i've driven EVERY CAR in GT4 at least one lap around the ring.... all 720 of em....
I've also driven countless laps of the ring in NFS Shift and Forza 3.
I wonder of Sabine is up for a friendly challenge

I AM SOOOOOOOO EPICALLY ROYALLY PISSED!!!!! gtplanet posted the official car list from the GT5 website. it's exactly the same list as GT4.... EVERY LAST FRIKKIN car..... plus 300 new ones that a few of which are simply premium model duplicates of GT4 cars.... i've driven all of these.... in 1080i resolution.... on my HDTV.... 90% of this game is suddenly old news to me. ARGH. thank god the physics are better than Forza. i've been waiting for that mostly.
/rant
at least it has a release date. and a nice book and a cute lil model GTR for my shelf and a keychain and better graphics and go karts and there's always DLC which will be good for hundreds of cars one would hope.

and then you'll have the waste of space "track preview" bullshit and every fucking car will sound the same with the exception of the gt 40...
and now that i hear it has every car in GT4 with only a few extra's i'll wait until i can buy a used version fro $10.00... thumbs down to GT5... it took this long and they still can't pull their heads out of thier ass...

oh don't get me wrong. there are amazing additions to the game. the return of car histories. like in gt 1-2-3. where there are long descriptive passages on the development and significance of each car. I LOVED that in the original games as it gave me a better feel as to why what i was driving deserved to be driven.
the graphics are insane. the physics are top notch. the weather and dynamic time of day is something racing REALLY needs more of. and the fact that there will be tons of DLC down the line really gives plenty of reason to own this game. it's still a MUST HAVE for me. i just wish that there were more new cars. i could only find roughly 100 cars post 2005-6 which were the newest cars in GT4. granted most of the 300+ new cars are classics and some modern (1990-2005) exotics.

Forza has DLC's, but hasn't had one in a while.
