Friendly reminder
To dust out your pc. Damn computer kept shutting off on me randomly. Thought my power supply was shot again. Went and blew it out with the air compressor and its running good again. Seems like I just dusted it out not that long ago but I got a lot of dust out.

Umm, really? My computer has been sporatically shutting off on me. Complete power down. Figured power supply is going. Might have to crack this puppy open and see if 3 years have caused it to get dusty.

Good reminder... I clean mine out twice a year as part of my regular duties...
I have a compressor with a water separator I use, and I remove and re-insert above board cards as well.

Yep.....about twice a year
Word of caution.....NEVER blow out the power supply unless you want to get a new one.

Not sure exactly.....but 3 out of 5 machines I've done it to have blown the psu anywhere from right after I did it, to several months later.
My buddy was cleaning out his machine.
I warned him.....he didn't listen & the machine wouldn't come on until we put in a different psu.
Coincidence?? Maybe.....but I don't blow out psu's anymore.

Actually, I have cleaned out power supplies with compressed air for decades with no issues, literally thousands of computers... However I have a separator on my compressor...

Just to add.. Put your finger into the cooling fans when blowing them out to keep it from spinning.. You can over spin the fan and kill it.. Another tidbit of info, when you spin the cooling fan up it creats electricity like a tiny generator.. The back flow of energy can cook the fan curcuit causing the fan to fail to operate and things to start over heating followed sometimes by death of other electronic componets.. I usually regulate the air psi to no more than 30 psi too...
