    2001 Trans AM WS6

    dvd drive not workin

    my freakin dvd drive on my lap top is nt workin it opens and closes and i can hear the disk spinning inside but then it stops like it not reading it. any ideas what it could be and how to fix it.

    sounds like the laser might have fallen off the two tracks that it rides on...

    if that is the problem it can probably be fixed but more than likely will happen again... another thin is the plastic gears that run the laser are worn/stripped... i'd just get another drive...

    have you tried a different color dvd? They are sometimes fickle with the types and colors they work with.
