Nitrous or not
Hi guys, i have a problem i want to put a nitrous wet systeem on my car.
The problem i have is tuning, we don`t have tuners or a dyno where i live.
It`s all a seat of the pant`s thing.
I`m tired of runing in the 12 sec i want 11 sec car and was thinking of spraying, but i have long tubes, lid and a gm hotcam already in the car but untuned. Will the cam give me problems if i also spray?
I wanted to spray 100shot max.

yes you will most likely need a tune and maybe injectors andfor sure a fuel pump to safely support that

Buy a Tunning software program like HP Tuners. Thats what I did and I am now spraying with no problems.

Handhelds
You could use a handheld programmer to change the timing, basic stuff, ideally you want an hp tune but it'll help hold down the detonation.

Another option is to use our Interface controller. It features both fueling and timing controls. If you're using it on a wet application, you could simply just turn the fueling features off and just use the timing portion of the unit. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

NOS 8 cylinder wet kit says you should retard it 8 degrees after 150 shot, i think. Nice times though.

For a 100 rwhp shot on an LS1, you'll need to pull 2* of timing provided you are still on the stock tune. As the shot gets larger, you'll need to pull 1.5 - 2* for every extra 50 rwhp (as a general rule). That being said, there's a great deal of variance in jetting from one manufacturer to another.
As for your original question: Can you do it? Probably so. Worst case you could at least pull timing with a handheld tuner. Should you do it? That one's up to you -- many of the nitrous related horror stories we hear about are tune related or because someone simply started cutting corners with the setup (no tune, no WOT switch, etc.).
Although you'll find there are a number of guys running N20 without the safety components or an elaborate tune, personally, I wouldn't dream of spraying my car without a tune -- that's just my $.02.2002 Camaro SS M6, 2.5 PRC 5.3L heads, TFS 228/230 cam, FAST 92, bolt ons + a 10 lb bottle in the back.
1989 Corvette L98, A4, Full bolt ons, etc.
