    Question Nitrous/NHRA legality help needed

I am installing a nitrous kit on my 2000 SS w/A4 transmission.

    So far I have:
    Stage 1 NX nitrous kit
    Blowdown tube
    bottle warmer
    purge kit
    window switch
    fuel pressure safety switch
    bottle mounted nitrous pressure gauge

I plan to mount bottle between rear seat cushions.

I cannot find any info about what I will have to do to ensure the setup is completely NHRA legal. I know I need the blowdown tube, but what else do I have to have, have to do, or make sure of?

    Thanks in advance.

Here is what I can find for you quickly, looks like you're ok:

The use of any agents other than NOS as part of, or mixed with, this pressurized fuel system is strictly
prohibited. All bottels must be securely mounted, stamped with minimum DOT 1800 pound rating, and
identified as nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide bottle(s) located in the driver compartment must be equipped with a
relief valve and vented outside the compartment. System must be commercially available, and installed as per
manufacture's recommendations. Commercially available thermostatically controlled blanket -type warmer
accepted. Any other external heating of bottle(s) prohibited.

I'd still hide in the spare area, it's against VA law to have a bottle in the car, even unhooked No one knows or sees it back there...

I know with my luck, I'd get a flat tire...lol.

I'm pretty sure Maryland has a law that says the bottle has to be unhooked, and vehicle has to have a placard stating that nitrous oxide is being transported...

Obviously, Frost, I'll be in touch soon.

    Fire retardant jacket?

I'm not sure if this is an official NHRA rule, but some tracks will require it with an aftermarket power adder.

And obviously, you will need a helmet.

You need a fire jacket from 11.49-faster if I am not mistaken, along with the 6-pt bar.

in a nutshell, if you have nitrous at all, you need a fire jacket. i like the part where it says 10.00 and slower. so, your 16 second honda guy that has nitrous needs a jacket.

NHRA RULE CHANGES FOR 2006 please read.
    NHRA RULE CHANGES FOR 2006
    Protective Clothing Changes

Supercharged, turbocharged, or nitrous-equiped cars, with or without a full OEM or .024-inch steel firewall. Please review the Protective Clothing sections,

Section 1-A, located on page 24 of the 2006 NHRA Rulebook read as follows:
10.00 (*6.40 1/8 mile) and slower; all E.T. non-OEM supercharged, non-OEM turbocharged, or nitrous-equipped cars with an OEM or .024-inch steel firewall: Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 mandatory

10.00 (*6.40 1/8 mile) and slower; all E.T. supercharged, turbocharged, or nitrous-equipped cars without a full OEM or .024-inch steel firewall: Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/5 and gloves meeting SFI Spec 3.3/1 mandatory.

    10.00 (*6.40 1/8 mile) to 11.49 (*7.35 1/8 mile): Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 mandatory.

The same Spec for Advanced E.T. is located in Section 1B, located on page #27 of the 2006 NHRA Rulebook.

    What’s Needed At 135 mph?
For 2006, the Rulebook clarifies that any vehicle that runs faster than 135 mph must meet minimum requirements for 9.99 –seconds. In year’s past, this 9.99 and/or 135 mph break was not clearly defined in the e.t. section of the rulebook, leading to some confusion.
The minimum requirements for any vehicle that runs 9.99 or runs faster than 135 mph includes an NHRA chassis certification, NHRA competition license, and upgraded safety equipment (neck collar, jacket and pants, and gloves).

    Computers
During NHRA competition, no portable computer (e.g., laptop, PDA, Palm Pilot, programmer, ect.) may be used or located in a vehicle at any point beyond the staging area ready line. All functions or values must be pre-set prior to this point. This includes Grudge Race and Time Trial runs.
