Changin plugs and what will it do?

I run a dry nitrous kit with a 150 shot. Currently have the NGK 55 plugs and have not had any issues. Have heard everyone saying go to the 6's to avoid detonation. What would doing this provide and what would it change while just normal driving or is it essentially just a safety measure? Thanks!

I am not a nitrous guru by any strech of the imagination but
I have read in threads that a colder plug is necessary for safety
    when running nitrous.
