    Is 150hp shot too much???

I'm sure that this has been beat to death, but I can't find a solid opinion. I'm looking to install HSW's 150 Wet plate kit.

Current setup: SLP Lid, Smooth bellow, S3 TB, LS6 Intake, Underdrive pulley, MS3, Patriot Dual springs, P/P LS1 heads, Tuning by: Carter Racing of Savannah, Ga (447rwhp/432tq), Luk Pro Gold clutch, Fidanza Aluminum flywheel, Built XMSN, 9" w/ 3.73, Pro 5.0 shifter, Pacesetter long tube, ORY, Flowmaster w/ electric cutout, Koni Struts/springs, SFC's

The motor just passed 100k miles, but runs stronger than ever. I have 42# injectors and a dual fuel pump setup also. Ultimately, would a 150 shot be too much or should i stay around the 100 shot range for now?? Thanks.

Stock rod bolts ? Uhhmmm... I sprayed a 150 shot in mine for over 4 years, before it pulled a rod bolt, with a lot less miles on it...

Carter Racing is located on Abercorn Rd behind Portman's Music. I have a few friends that live in Beaufort that i go and hang out with on occasion. You've probably seen me up there as well. Thanks for the shout-out.

I'll probably start with a 100 shot. From there it will be baby steps to get it tuned for the 150. We'll see though, i may be just happy with a 100... that'll put me around the 550rwhp range. I'll be fine with that for a little while.

Well its really a matter of Tuning - PCM, Mixture.
I'd make sure my injector duty cycle is below 80% & also have effecient fuel supported to the fuel rails. We all know ppl whom got away on a 200shot in a stock bottom end but if you want to risk it for a price of a new motor .. Its your call ... Race fuel 110 or min 106 for elemenating some detonation but I won't completely depend on that either .. Key is effecient Tuning & watching your spark plugs fuel pressure A/F ratio & LUCK !!

    Too much? No.
    What I would do? No.
I would go 125 tops unless I had a built motor.

I sprayed 150 on the built 306 in my old LX & I only went up to 100 on my last car I sprayed (2010 Genesis Coupe 3.8)

I started with a 100 shot and am looking to go to a 150 shot. I have a stock bottom end and a H/C/I car with a nitrous outlet 92mm plate system. The tuner told me that 150 is safe to spray on these motors as long as the tune is spot on. I have seen guys on other forums spraying 200 on a stock bottom end for many passes

I've never seen 200 on the stock LS1, but that doesn't mean you can't.

A friend of mine ran a 175 shot on his 98 for 2 years. Started doing it at 60,000 miles and sold the car, still running strong with right at 100,000 miles.
Probably 100 passes at the strip and numerous street encounters spraying it. Just gears and exhaust with some tuning were his only mods. The rest was bone stock. I think it went a best of 11.30 at 117 mph. Consistent too. Always went several rounds bracket racing it.

You will be just fine with 150-175 with the correct plugs & tune. I have been spraying anything & everything for years & have yet to blow Anything up. You want to make Sure you keep any oil out of the combustion chamber as it will cause detonation.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
