Well, I never really found a hood that I liked that was carbon fiber for camaros but they seemed to usually be about $700. Glad you are painting it, I'm getting sick and tired of this trend around here of people having black hoods. There are people around here that even SPRAY PAINT their hood black just to make it look like carbon fiber. Sad...
I was going for one, but coudn't find one that I liked enough for their steep prices. Then I just decided to make my own fiberglass one. It won't be much more weight and I already have all of the items to make it. I'm trying to find a good way to bolt it down too, because I'm thinking if I can find the right way to bolt it to the hood I can even have the same weight as the carbon fiber and save me about $500 that can go to other mods.

I've seen one on a 99 z but I couldn't remember exactly who the guy got it from. He said he got it on ebay and it was shipped from Maryland. To say the least I wasn't impressed with fitment on the hood. One side was okay but the other side was sticking up badly in the front and rear corner. I'm pretty sure it could have been adjusted with some modification to the hinges and maybe some hood pins in the front. It did feel very light weight though. Also the hood scoop grill was very small and looked like chicken wire. It was built into the hood and wasn't removable. You'd have to cut it out to put another one in.
I've also seen pictures of one that was painted and the hood scoop was left in carbon fiber. It looked pretty good.

I seen one on here a while back. Seems like it was apewter and a copy of the ss hood and he painted all of it but some stripes next to the scoop. pretty cool looking in my book but I can't remember who it was.

I also thought about doing that with my red z28 with a black hood and black spoiler. What swayed me away from it was that the lines don't match up very well. You'd have to have it extend down to make it look more like a two-tone paint job for it to look right.

I saw this one so far http://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...153#post830153 And believe it or not i actually like the vents. I'd probably still paint it though.

painting it all except the manta stripe would deffinitely look awesome like prowlerZ's because it'll continue your black down from the top like you said you wanted and right across the hood
