I've actually heard that they do help with mpg, though never heard any claims of successful hp. Don't know how they work on an f-body. If you can get a good deal, buy one and tell me if it does any good... I'm not betting on it though.

you know, one would wonder and speculate that if there were aftermarket parts that improved both fuel economy and boosted HP and TQ gains that they would not only show Dyno Sheet results but also a short video showing the testing and results taking place. or maybe thats my thinking...

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!. You will be extremely dissapointed when you spend $60 and all you get is this $1 peice of metal. There are no moving parts or anything its just a peice of metal that supposedly supercharges your car. A friend of mine bought one for his 3.8 grand prix and the thing did nothing. Its sitting on a shelf in his garage and we usually have a good laugh when we walk by the thing. Hes like "WTF was i thinking?"

The swirling air would defeat its purpose when it have to go through MAF and the throttle blade and the EGR tube.

I dont see how people can even begin to think these things would work?...Doesnt common sense tell you that sticking something in your intake is just going to slow down air flow not increase hp. Idk, its just me i guess...

Not worth the money
I had several people swear by the "Tornado" sold in places like Auto Zone for somewhere around $60. I was very skeptical, but I saw one (knock off) on eBay for $12 so I decided it was worth trying.
Result? Nothing, zip, nada. I installed this piece of cut/shaped sheet metal in a 1994 T-bird 4.6. You make it a "custom" install by trimming it to fit snug in the piping of the intake system. No noticeable increase in power (not surprised), no perceived increase in responsiveness (not surprised) and absolutely no increase in mpg (what I was hoping for). The FIPK K&N I had installed previously was noticeable in all the former respects, so it's not like a minor improvement goes unnoticed.
The "swirl" in that particluar set up (4.6 V-8) is after the MAF and before the throttle body. It's a pretty slick marketing idea, but the physics of the results are not performance enhancers, IMHO.
It was a cheap lesson. To me, I would not recommend it to others, but it won't break you to try it. A TB by-pass on an LS1 is less expensive and more productive by far, just to give you a comparison.
One cheap thing I did on a 1996 Dodge Ram 5.2 V-8 that INCREASED mpg was to use a velco'd magnet strip to wrap the fuel line. I did nothing else and the gas mileage went up close to 1mpg. It also did not ping with less than 93 octane like it always had (owned it for nine years now). The magnet strip cost five bucks. It's supposed to do something to the molecular structure of the fuel due to the magnetized area it passes through that increases the efficiency of the fuel as it burns. I'm no chemist, but while the dynamics of this claim are very suspicious, I cannot explain why the truck actually did get better gas mileage EXCEPT that the idea is sound. I figured it was harmless if it didn't work, and I can afford to gamble with five bucks.

...and two of them will increase fuel economy 40%! Combined with some magnets and it will increase 50%! Be prepared for rocket-like performance!

I used to have one car, an '85 Caprice 305 4-barrel, that ran better if I took the gas cap loose and re-tightened it everyday. Cars have quirks, true that?
