Black- 2000 SS Camaro M6
Another Gear Question
I have the stock 10 bolt in my 2000 SS (m6). I dont go to the strip and I dont street race. Was just wondering if my rearend would hold up with 4:10s and minimal abuse. Just wanna be pushed back into my seat every once in a while.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
I don't have any problems with having 3.73's in mine but I have an A4 tranny. From what I've heard as long as you aren't dumping the clutch at 5K rpm on slicks off the line you'll be fine.
I'll let other M6 owners chime in with their experiences.

It's only a matter of time my friend before you're in the market for a new rear end......you can buy a girdle in the time being, that's what I did as a band-aid. I have a M6 with 471+HP though. Our rear ends are a bad joke from the "bean-counters" at GM. The A4's are easier on them, and as long as you're careful you'll probably extend the life of it, but if you drive it agresssively, and you probably do if you come here, LOL, you can expect to eventually have to replace it.

If you're not drag racing it you'll be fine.

love the rear ends, i HAD 4.10's in my a4 car personally its too much, cant wait to swich them into my 02m6.
btw my 99 has 140k miles with about 20k of them with the 4.10's. and weekly visits to the track pulling 1.7 60 foots and tons of freeway driving,
get the 4.10's plus the girdle youll luv it.

Do the 4.10's and TA cover. I'm going to swap my rear end by the time you brake yours and I'll sell you mine.
Welcome to the site fellow Cheese Head!

Girdle just makes changing the fluid easier cause it has a drain plug. Ohh and looks cool.

sometimes these are economical, for racing with slicks, hardly, but for the average joe, it does make life a little easier for oil change and does prolong the rear ends life.
is it the end all for the 10 bolt, NOPE the only end all for the 10 bolt is the recycling bin.
although common sense and proper care goes a long way with these rears
