running without a coolant reservior ?

My coolant reservior tank is leaking and currently has no coolant. There is a big hole. my radiator tank has full coolant. I'm looking for a used coolant reservior tank at the moment. The purpose of the reservior tank is pretty much a precautionary measure if my main tank is out of coolant, right ? is it ok to drive the z without the tank for as i look for one ? As always, thanks for your help..

Actually it is a recovery unit.

As engine demand fluctuates, so does the amount of heat they generate.
When they are very hot, some coolant escapes due to increased pressures and volume. The recovery tank allows the escaped coolant to be recovered as the engine cools back down.
    No tank = coolant loss.

I would think it would be OK to drive without one for a short time. You are doing so now since you have a hole in the one you have.
Keep it topped off with a good 50/40 mix, but get it replaced asap.
