    Long tube header installation

I'm considering long tubes for my 99 TA and i want to know if i can install it on my own. I'm pretty handy and so is my dad, but i've heard that you need to move the trans to install them. Has anyone had success with installing lt's themselves?

If you honestly think you need to remove a transmission to install headers maybe this isn't the job for you...

The only thing that needs to come off is the old exhaust manifolds/cats etc. And removing the passenger side coil pack bracket gives a bit more room as well.

go for it man, theres nothing like doing it your self, and be patient.....take it easy, make sure u can raise the front of the car pretty high, i had to use a floor jack + 8x8 wood block to get the needed clearance to get them long tubes in, other than that you should be good, keep it slow, take your time, align the gaskets (used the old metal ones make sure u keep right orientation) and have fun.....dont forget a set of 02 sims...also good time to change your plugs and wires too......

If I were really a rude person I doubt that I'd have spent any time explaining to you how to bleed the clutch in your other post

I say go for it. I did it with my buddies help. We all have limited experience working on cars. It is pretty straight forward. Took us 3 days for a total of 9-10 hrs.

Go for it. Me and a friend did it in 7 hrs, and we had never installed headers before. Just be sure you have some penetrating oil to break the bolts loose from the head (don't want to break the bolt in the head... lessons learned), plenty of breakover bars and extensions to reach everything, don't forget to remove the plugs first (duh), use new header bolts and gasket, and be ready for every single one of the header to y-pipe bolts to break during dis-assembly...

    Nothing difficult. Just time consuming.

With a buddy and a lift, it took us 5 hours (not including time to fix leaks/banging of y pipe).
