Is there anything to the Velocity stack?

Looking in my Jeg's book I see that they claim that the velocity stack gave 12 hp to a c5 vette.and 22 ft. pounds of torgue. I know that alot of this is just talk.but is there any gains at all?

Actually a velocity stack will provide some serious improvement - if you've got a carburetor - and one that can be rejetted at that. As to putting one on most fuel injected engines it isn't going to accomplish much of anything as the intake air passages in the upper/lower intake manifold are separated by quite a distance to your MAF and throttle body.

What will help on these cars is to some sort of "ram air" - in other words a slight amount of positive pressure hitting the air cleaner. It doesn't take much to feel an improvement once the car is moving at a decent rate through the air.
