they can be very reliable if they are taken care of well. Most of the common problems are stupid electrical issues (typical GM corner cutting) Window motors suck, Many have problems with the coolant sensor, the headlight motors suck.

As far as the drivetrain goes, as long as it isn't heavily modified, and it is maintained well they will last a really long time.

At the time my car only has 36,xxx miles on it, so i dont know from personal experience but i have heard of people driving these cars up into the 170,xxx miles and still didnt die at that point.

Its like someone else said dont heavily mod it to where u have so much horsepower flying out the rear wheels to where it wears on the car parts and it should last u a long time.

I had a 1994 firebird for 9 years. Never had any problems. Sold it with 200,000 miles and got my 02 T/A. So far so good except for the window motors on the 02.

Fbodys are the only way to go. I had a 2001 Camaro B4C (Police) with air ram hood, I have a 98 Trans AM now Niether have had any major troubles. The Camaro had previously, I had new axles and rear bearing I put in because I drove it in Highway duty. Get one and drive it like you stole it.

"drive it like you stole it" Are you looking to earn the state some more revenue? :-)

reliable stock with light mods. But you should just get the weaknesses out ASAP like the power window motors, get the brass gears for the window motor, and get a set of SFC's before your T-tops leak. Electrical wise, they aren't too horrible, just little gremlins once in a while but they're easy to fix and track down once you get used to it

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

I've beaten the piss out of mine and it's been in/out of the shop alot. Pretty much stock too. It's a bad ass car and if you romp on it a lot it'll break. Get ready to spend money on it. Don't get me wrong, i love my car!

oh yeah: i give them a 6 or so on the 10 scale.
