    windshield smudges in the rain

My windshield smudges really bad in the rain when i have to use my wipers and they wipe back toward the passengers side. The wipers wipe really smooth when they wipe toward the drivers side but smudge really bad back the other direction but they still don't chatter at all. It smudges so bad that i cant see very well in the rain and am constantly moving my head toward the center of the car to see better. It almost seems like a residue on the windshield but i cant feel anything when i run my hand over it. I've tried rain x and that helps a little but i still get smudging when i have to use the wipers. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ehhh, i should have mentioned that i don't believe its the wipers because i can actually see the water kinda bead up differently on the windshield in the area that it smudges than everywhere else. So it looks like theres its something on the glass but i can't feel it. Just wondering if theres anything i can use to get it off if there is something on there.

it may sound odd but a can of coke works great to clean oil, etc. of the windsheild. pour it on the glass run the wipers (on slow) don't want to sling it everywhere then hose it off. My dad showed me this trick after getting oil slung all over my truck a few years back. It does work...

actually ive heard that too. they did a coke experiment thing on that show mythbusters, used to clean chrome and rust off, it was pretty interesting how good it worked.

Yep, its the wipers not fully contacting the glass. Get new wipers and the problem will clear up!

Thx for the advice, i think i might try that. If that doesnt work i guess my next step is to try a new set of wipers.

i get that problem a lot too. I change the wipers and it is good for a couple of days. I think that it has more to do with the pitting on the windshield not letting the wipers get all the water off.
