18s all around are going to be heavier than 17/18 combo. I used to have a 17/18 combo but hated the difference it caused in stance between the rear and front. Pick your poison I guess..........

I was thinking about dropping the car at 1" in the front 1.5" in the back but i am worried that once i install the LT headers, that i am going to have a clearance problem. i am stuck on the size of rims to go with.

I'm assuming you are a drag racer? If thats the case, I'd go with 18's for the street and 16's at the track. 18's for style and a big soft sidewall for a good launch. I'm moving up to 18's full time, but i'm more into drifting and auto-X.

i am so confused.. i would like to go with 17's all the way around and some 315/40 on the back but i am worried that the rim will look too small since i want some deep dish wheels for the back. any experience with this?

17's are more than enough wheel for the 4th gen body.

AMEN! I'm partial to 10" wide but 9.5" would work.

If you run 17x11's with 315's you will have plenty dish to the wheel. Also If you decide to go with 18's please please get at least a 18x9.5 perferably 18x10+. I am so tired of seeing people put little 18x8's on these cars it just looks like crap if you ask me.

if I ever have 2500 bucks sitting around, I wanna get some 18" x 9.5" TTII's or Crager SS's and then lower my car an inch. that way it would have the same amount of ground clearance as my car does right now with my 17s, but look 2 inches lower.

you can get 18s and not raise the car whatsoever.
    I wouldn't go w/ 1" taller tires.

    almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

If i go 18's all the way around i was thinking of 18x9 in the front and 18x9.5 or 10 in the back. the same if i go with 17's. makes the car look mean with a nice wide tires on the back. i dont have to shave anything if i decide to go with 17x10 or 18x10 as the rear tires.

Keep in mind, if you get directional tires with those you can't rotate... Unless you dismount them and then you can rotate side to side, but thats it.
