$600 for a Dyno Tune... Sound right???

I talked to the only local shop in Daytona that does Dyno tuning today. They told me I would have to buy a license with HP tuners or a chip something like that for $250 then they could tune my car on the dyno with their sofware for a cost of $350. for a total cost of around $600 WOW! does that sound right to you guys?

Couldnt they just tune the car without HP tuners?

it should be only 150 for the hp tuners liscense and about 80-120/hr for dyno tuning.

Does that mean I could buy the liscense myself and then take it in to them?

or could I get it tuned elsewhere without having to buy a liscense?

I really wana have something lined up so I can get my headers on, but Im having a real hard time finding a dyno-tune shop

do some research on hp tuners. there are several options and I dont really think you going to NEED to be tuned if you are just doing headers. All you really need is hp tuners software and a wide band 02 and you can do it all yourself.

Honestly, that is a good price IF they know what they are doing, and not just do three or four WOT runs. The shop where I do LSx tuning for charges about that, but I make sure the VE table is setup right, then the MAF (if applicable), and finish off with the timing table. Places that charge by the hour, usually will get you in and out as fast as they can. More cars tuned equals more money for them. A reputable tuner will take how ever long it takes to get the tune right, and will provide any customer support after the tune. Do your research and ask a lot of questions, it will be worth the time when you finally decide on who will tune your vehicle. Good luck!

you can't put a price on experience & customer service. If you think your tuner is only worth $150+dyno time try tuning yourself
