Is it worth replacing 4" speakers

Ive ripped out all of my old monsoon garbage (and replaced), except I left the stock rear 4" speakers in tact. I have new 6.5 midwoofers in the sail pannels and dont want to put coaxials there.

Should I bother replacing the 4" with infinitys? just to have the rear channel work? or is there a better solution?

I dont think replacing the 4" ers in would be a pain, I just wasnt sure if they would even sound ok. I was thinking about using 5x7 or something bigger, which would require some cutting

that's what i did, hence PITA b/c you have to cut it all out, but leave enough plastic to anchor the speaker to; ps, mount them from BEHIND

What size was a good fit for this area? 5x7 6x8?

if you're running a subwoofer you could keep the 4 inchers and just get a crossover of some sort, even something as simple as bass blockers and pick a speaker with a good tweeter/supertweeter for higher mghz. now if you're not running a sub i think it'd be worth it to upgrade the 4s to something with more mid range capability.

up to you -- unless the fronts are nicely amped coaxials or components -- many (the majority?) prefer the "rear fill" that audiophiles will advise against.

My MB Quart setup came out rather clean (lookin' and soundn').

that looks great! are they mounted to MDF then anchored to the panel?

I put some 5x7's in mine and just ripped out all the plastic except a little bit to keep it anchored with

Yes. I know I could have filled in those holes to make it look a little cleaner, but I always have the grills on anyway. No big deal.
