Suspension noise after lowering???
Hey guys, new member here. I just had Hotchkis lowering springs put on and now when I hit bumps there's a loud rattle (clanging) noise coming from the front end. I took it back to the shop and they couldn't find it. Any ideas? It almost sounds like something's lose but everything seemed tight when he re-examined it.
Thanks for any help!!!

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
how many miles are on your car? If it's higher [over 70k] you're shocks are probably warn out and the agreesive drop in height is making it hard for them to do their job.
rule for lowering: always do shocks AND springs at the same time.

yeah it just turned over 10,000 miles. I have a friend that lowered his 00 ws6 with the eibach kit (even more drastic) and he's running his stock shocks with over 130,000 miles and has no noises. That's why it was throwing me off. His drop was about 1.5" and mine was exactly 1". Still think it may be a shock issue with so few miles and only a 1" drop???
Thanks for your reply.

sometimes, they don't get the shock nut tight enough up top. so, the shaft moved around. i've had it happen.

You have to forgive me... I'm not a suspension guy. Is this something that can be corrected if he were to tighten it back? Because he re-tightened everything but it still has that sound. Does something need to be re-adjusted or should I send it to another shop? How did you get yours fixed Mrr23? Thanks for the advice.

You have to pull the strut out and retight the bolt that bolts the shaft to the upper mount. Also check your swaybar endlinks. But like it was mentioned before the shock is not properly valved for a spring that has 233 pounds of pressure over the stock spring. Will it work with that spring yes but not well, how long will it last? not a lot before it starts wearing out.
