Valvetrain noise after changing oil !!
After changing my oil, I noticed a lot more valvetrain noise. Is this normal with synthetic oil or do I have a problem.

Did you have the old oil in for an extended amount of time?

I don't think so, maybe 3200 or 3300 miles at most

Synthetics tend to actually clean the old slug out of the motor...so you might get a little more noise

Thanks, it runs perfect. It just ticks when I set a red light or just let it set at idle for like 3 or 4 minutes.

i've noticed the same thing.seems regular oils are better at hiding noise than synthetic's are.if i run reg pennzoil i hear nothing,if i run pennzoil platinum(the best oil ever made that turns you into an instant chick magnet)i hear the valve train constantly if i listen closely.i mix half regular half synthetic when i change oil, this seems to be a happy medium.a little noisy but sounds normal.its nothing worry about.

the mixed antifreeze i buy.the blend oils i don't because its more of a sales gimmick than a real product.most blends they do not list the % of each oil.plus like i said if you price it and do the math you make your own blend alot cheaper, plus control the % of each.I usually mix 25% synthetic to 75% regular.plus if you use pennzoil platinum(the best oil ever made that turns you into a instant chick magnet)you can save some gas money.i get really good mileage in all my cars + all the hot chicks dig me and give me gas money.

So instead of $9 a gallon antifreeze, you buy a $7 half gallon and half a gallon of water? OR is there some magic at work in premix that I don't know about, I was making a joke about the premix, lol

distilled walmart water is good enough for me at .75 a gallon, at the end of the day it's still just a machine, a big hunk of metal

unless you don't care what you put into your car and use plain tap water mixed with antifreeze<not wise

I don't use tap water, but I don't go overkill either, but I understand that overkill is in the eye of the beholder
