    Fixed Header Leak..

Well I've had a leak on the driver's side header for quite some time now decided to finally fix it. The paper gasket was charred and the leak was from the back bolt but I also noticed when I was taking off the header that the bolts were easily taken off which leads me to believe why the gasket went out in the first place. I went to napa got metal gaskets for 15.00$ old (whats left of it anyways)vs. new will take pics with new gasket installed soon.

    1) never use the gaskets that come w/the headers. get yourself some nice copper compression gaskets...

    2) your header bolts are backing out from your heads, and its typical. need to check them from time to time and re-tighten as necessary or get head locking bolts...

    1) I bought the car with the paper gaskets already installed
    2) Yea I did that but by that time it was to late and when you tightened the bolts down I still got a leak.

    1) go find and bitch slap the old owner, FTW...

    2) only thing worth saying in regards to that if your leaks continues, would be to pull the header and check the header flange to make sure its not warped...

do you happen to know which set of headers you have?

yea they are pacesetter Lt's. it started to rain before I could install the gasket but I'm pretty sure its the gasket becuase when I first bought the car the leak wasn't present.

hmmm I have a question I installed the gasket and yet I still here the sound which I though was a leak. now I'm wondering if I diagnosed the problem wrong. Is it possible the ticking that I'm hearing could possible be a spark plug which is not all the way screwed it becuase I noticed the the tick goes with the rev's but I didn't think I would be able to hear that from inside the car while driving so it never crossed my mind until i read a thread about it also I just replaced the plugs not to long ago.

Curious about your problem and if you've solved it.
