ABS/TCS module
Hello,
After getting my 1998 Firebird TA washed, my TCS light came on and stayed on. Dealer pulled code 239 and following the manual troubleshooting tree, found a short to ground in the ABS/TCS module (the one with the long acronym name that I can't remember) and says it'll cost $1150 to replace the module.
Any idea where I can find one cheaper than that? Think gmpartsdirect will have one?
Thanks in advance.

Don't be so quick to replace it, sounds like the same deal as in the last post I replied to. The wheel speed sensor connectors are notorious for failing after getting wet and could easily cause a false report of a bad ABS module.
Unplug them all, clean all the electrical contacts with contact cleaner then coat with a bit of silicone grease.

follow-up:
The dealer ran their troubleshooting tree and the TCS module has a short to ground in it. Unfortunately gmpartsdirect.com says that the module is on backorder from GM and there is no delivery date, so I might not be able to get a new module from anyone.
Bummer.

Hmmm! I have the same issue. I will try that. I also am wondering if the speed sensors for a 97 are the same for a 98. I was gonna try and so a swap to isolate the problem.
What kind of voltage will the speed sensor send?

I dunno what voltage it sends. The service manual troubleshooting guide says to check for a circuit between a certain pin and ground. If there is a circuit there, then the module is shorted out internally and must be replaced. That's what they found with mine.
