how much power can a 6spd hold?
Ok i have a lot of questions here. I have a '99 Z28 6spd. I'm on the way to having full bolt ons soon and then after that i'm getting a heads/cam package. So i figure with full bolt ons and h/c should put me around 400+rwhp. What i need to know is how will this affect my trans. What is it rated for? Will i need to beef it up in some way?
I have 75k on the car. I bought it with 60k and assume its the stock clutch. Should i keep the stock clutch in their until it craps out or do i get a better one at the same time as h/c? And yes i know i will be in the market for a 12 bolt after all that. Thanks!Last edited by 99blueZ; 07-25-2006 at 05:44 PM.

all you will need to beef up is the clutch, the mechanics of the trasmission should hold till 600RWHP comes around

Are you stating a warranty extension? At 600 HP( transmissions only see torque BTW) it is not going to last long, if you use it. The trans is rated at 400 lb-ft of totque stock.

White- V6 S/C Commodore
Some 2 years ago We built in our workshop a close ratio T56 6 speed for a Drift Ute, the challenge was to build a reliable T56 that would hold over 900 rwhp. The transmission was built with ratios of 2.66,1.78,1.3,1.0,.80,.62 and it was fitted with a 31 spline mainshaft and a direct couple shift. This ute has had over 50 meetings and it has held up with an amazing 1022 rwhp. We have dozens of High/Performance Road and Race cars here in Australia running big HP through the T56 6 speed, these transmissions are truely amazing. Mal

IVE SEEN OVER 500 RWHP EASILY WITH JUST A RAM CLUTCH..and ive seen them break bone stock.........its all in how you treat it...AND PS. full bolt ons tune and h/c will net you way more than 400rwhp if you are smart.....and you seem smart
