i no it has been asked b4 but i cant find any straight answers
first off i know this question has been asked multiple time but all those people get for answers is to sell their car and buy a v8, please refain from doing that please because i do have my reasons for keeping my car. i am doing a l36 to ls1 swap in my 2000 camaro. the 3 reasons i am doing this instead of just selling mine and buying a v8 are that 1) found an ls1 with 30,000 miles on it for $600 from a good freind of mine 2) insurance reasons and 3) sentimental value on my car is to high to just sell. what i need to know is what i need to buy. i know i need to get the trans, wiring harness, pcm, radator, and whole fuel system. my rear end is the same as the 8's and i want to keep my v6 springs because i heard that its better for traction some how. thank you for your help.

Uhhmmmm...
Gonna need a lot of parts. I'd keep an eye out for a wrecked car for the extra parts. I seen some in here before, every thing but the motor & tranny !
Computer / wiring harness / exhaust / radiator / mounts / ect...
Good Luck !!! Bill

If you're going to go through the trouble, you might as well swap for a built LSx crate motor. Not much would change, except the power. Go big or go home, I say.

You stole that engine from your buddy!Turn around and sell it or even trade it for a turbo for your six. Some guys are making very good power with them.

hell yeah. or put that motor into a rx7 or something. those things are monsters. they weigh over 1000lbs. lighter than our F-bodies.

i don't want to discourage you but you just can't imagine wants involved in this swap.I'll bet before you get finnished it will cost you half as much just to go buy a ls1 car.You realize the the dash pod, brakes, body computer all are married to each other. If you think you can just drop that ls1 computer in there and go you can't.I'm telling you go find a rebuildable or car without a engine and you will be even more attached to the new car because you rebuilt it.The v6 car is just going to frustrate you so badly i bet it gets sold before it gets running.Save yourself now before you touch that v6 car.I'm a experianced car mechanic and electrical systems engineer and i wouldn't consider this swap UNLESS i had a complete wrecked donor car. Then it would take some serious work plus most states you won't be able to get the car inspected unless you use the donors car vin number.Plus i'll bet the insuance company will refuse to insure it.
