Life of a Nitto 555R?
I found a set of used nitto drag radials that have about 2/32nds of tread left...I was wondering if anyone has any guidance for me on the life of this tire with this much wear. They will only be used for the track (about 25 miles away). Are these tires nearing the end, or will i see another few trips (25 passes) out of them?
I figure if I get them cheap enough they are worth it, but just wondering what I can expect.. This is a 2nd toy that i dont want to spend alot of money on - just cant stand being stuck between a bog and tire spin (big cam, and 3.42s have become my launch nemesis)
FYI - its a 2000 T/A, M6 - 440hp/400tq at the wheels. I wouldnt be doing heavy burnouts or anything, i just need something to get my pitiful 2.3x 60 ft times down, and stop spinning my hankooks through every shift. Over a series of 5 runs i have only mustered a 12.8 @ 115...

I don't think those will be hooking up your 440RWHP very well.
The life is about out of them, but they will get you 15 passes if you go light on the burnouts.

They're 6/32 new, so 2/3's gone.

they hold my 444rwhp/395rwtq car just fine. then again i only have about 4000miles on them. you say 2/32" = 1/16" tread depth. with that little tread left on the tire, it going to be almost to dangerous to drive in the rain...
seeing as these are going to be track times, id say you have about 2000-3000 miles left road use. track use, extremely shorter since im sure you will be doing burnouts, etc., so its really hard to say if you could get 25 passes out of them...
ive only had 6 passes since putting on my Nitto 555R DR's in April...2018 CTS-V: °°668rwhp/658rwtq°°

They are pretty much useless as track tires now. Too get those to hook you need to do a good, long and fast burnout. I was at the track tuesday with my nittos and they didnt hook for crap without vht and an 8-10sec burnout. But once they laid down vht, i didnt spin at all. they just hooked and went.

Thanks for all the insight. Very helpful...
Do you guys have estimates (# of passes + miles) of how long your drag radials are lasting if only used to the trackand back? (Nitto/BFG/MT?)

MT radials.
3,000 with a few passes. I got 40 passes out of a used set. I was told they had 200 miles and 10 passes on them.
