Grrrrr!!!!!!!
This weekend I installed pacesetter coated headers & their matching off road y pipe...the install went without a hitch but I HATE the way it sounds with the slp loudmouth. It is really really loud...if I lived in the country or used this car only for the track I might not care, but it's just too loud for daily driving. I think I'm gonna have to pick up a magnaflow or something quieter (don't want to add cats).. GRRR just sucks to work on something for a while and then have to spend another $300 to get it sounding the way you like.
On a side note, the install was insanely easy, I don't know why people piss and moan about it so much. You don't have to take the steering shaft out, nor shave off part of the block like one how-to said...both headers slid right up into place. They look great and the fit is superb for a 'cheap' header. All in all it took around 6-7 hours.

long tubes with a loudmouth are gonna be very loud, specially no cats. my opinion is that the sound isnt very good either. kinda raspy. put a hooker or magnaflow system on and it will sound great.

loudmouth with LT's and no cats has always sounds like shit. No surprise there.
pickup the magnaflow you won't be disapointed.

Yeah I fully expected it to sound like ass. When I first got my car it had a loudmouth already on it (and an air lid). I wasn't really crazy about the sound, but it didn't bother me enough to change it...I knew it would sound bad with headers, just not THIS bad. If I knew then what I knew now, I would have ordered a magnaflow as soon as I ordered the headers.
Magnaflow > hooker...may be a tad louder but its pretty stainless, GREAT fit, and looks nice. I hate hooker tips.

do you have a cut-out on your car?
-
08-28-2005, 07:36 PM #14
I have a QTP cutout. But it is sitting in my dresser drawer because the ass that sold it to me hasn't given me all of the parts I need for it...I'm missing some kind of wire. Going to consult QTP soon and see exactly what I'm missing so I can fab it up.
I haven't got it on yet because I don't have the actual cutout part, just the electric plate that opens and closes. Probably a good thing I didn't mess around with it yet seeing as I'm changing the exhaust soon and will be back under there moving shit around.

Shell out he dough for the BORLA!! Too loud? Swap a plate, tone it down. Wide open its just as loud as a loudmouth, and sounds far better do some resonance in the offset muffler... the more you put through it, the quieter it gets, but the better it souinds! its probably perfect for you!

amazes me people spend that much on exhaust, but then again the guy that buys borla also doenst even install it himself either.
