ticking sound from engine??
Hi,
wondering if any of you have had this experience and if so how did you fix it? I have a 2004 gto with 7500 miles and oil change about 500 miles ago and I always put in 91 octane gasoline. This seems to be intermitent. like if I rev it up then it seems to stop for awhile. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks in advance

Well, with the info given its kinda hard.If its intermitent, its going to be really hard to spot. I hate them damn problems. Anywho, Ide check all your exhaust mount's and then check for random loose shit. Then theres always the, "Ticking noise thats in your head noise"
Good luck.

It could be spark knock....but hard to tell over net without hearing it....good luck...BTW...LS1 are noisey engines...a little shake rattle and roll is the nature of the beast....if louder than that hard to say

There are many possiable answers for your sound. Our motors are not the quitest to begin with they have quite a bit of piston slap noise not to mention the injectors and coil packs too.
I wouldn't worry about it.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

The LS motors are notoriously noisy so most likely what you're hearing is perfectly normal. Mine has all kinds of ticking sounds with the cam in it. Sounds like a big sewing machine

hey man i've got an A4, 2001 z28 and i always hear the same slight knocking sound and constantly check around the headers and i find......nothing! I think it really is "one of those in your head things"! smach that beast out, if it's major you'll know, cause you'll have performance loss that's really easy to notice.

my goat makes a ticking noise but you can only hear it thru the wheel well drivers side i already diagnosed it to an exhaust leak, it gets louder as the engine warms up
