95 lt1
I am thinking about buying a 95 lt1 for about 2000..I don't know how many miles are on it and the body needs some work(mostly paint) how good are these engines to make some power and is this price worth it or can I find a better deal..thanks for any help.

Sounds fishy if you don't know how many miles are on the engine with lots of work needed to be done. The price is attractive, but other than that...if the engine was well maintained, then the LT1 can prove to be a reliable engine. If not, they can eat up money faster than a street-walker in Vegas. Since you don't know much about it, I say to pass it up.

Red- 1995 Chevy Camaro
You can make 500 HP with a Geo Metro..... IF your willing to spend the money on it. Id say keep saving and get a nice one with low miles. Wait till September and you will find some deals.

Well, you won't be able to get 500hp out of an LT1 without FI or more cubes, but it can be done. And what do you mean by specs? You want dimensions and valvetrain specs or you want factory numbers?
And LT1's respond great to bolt-ons. A few basics bolt-ons and you'll be running with stock to slightly-modded LS1 cars.

AFR heads and a big ass cam. It's been done a couple of times that I know of. I personally know one of the guys that did it.

Yeah, I would have to say it would be a HUGE freakin cam. Did he drive it on the street much? I wouldn't think that a cam that radical would have good street manners. And it looks like I learned something new (again) and have been put in my place.

500hp out of any sbc is easy!
all a lt1 is is a fuel injected old school chevy
heads, cam, intake, exhaust, and better fuel system and u can get 400-500hp
but u ned to take off the junk optispark and put on coil pacs
then u gotta deal with the junk 4l60e trans that wont take anywhere near 500hp
not to mention the 7.5 rear end
u could probably make 500hp and get the body lookin good for 10,000-15,000 including cost of car and depending on your mechanical expertise
but ive seen 500hp lt1s and their bad ass, i love em, you should do it

get the 4l80, get a nine inch rear and msd blaster ignition and the ls style coil packs and youre good to go. the lt1 is a torque monster!!!!! the opti is the weak link, and you cant have a misfire with 500 hp! that would be tragic....
10,000 bucks seems alittle steep. its all about ballin on a budget. Yo.

but tats taking in to account cost of car, suspension, paint, engine work, transmission work, rear end, and those other costs that sneak up and fuck u in the ass when u modify a car!

youl easily have 10,000 into a car when you seek 500hp
if u want that much power for cheap... spray it!
but id spray it after i got 500hp out of the engine too
