    lt1 oversensitive knock module

I originally purchased a scan tool for gm vehicles. i replaced the knock sensor, and installed an LT4 knock module (part number 16214681) and my problem is the scan tool is showing like 3-5 degrees retarded timing at idle. when i tap on the exhaust under the passenger seat, the engine almost dies. also when i slightly tap on the intake manifold, the timing is retarded so much, the engine almost dies. No exhaust rattling or leaks. its a 1996 TA, OBD1 installed, Lt1 engine, has hedders and lt4 hotcam kit. it has done this for a while now. if i slowly rev the engine, the scan tool shows no timing retard, but if i fast rev the engine, the scan tool shows max retardation. also crusing down the road, at about 1500rpm, timing is retarded about 7-15 degrees. what could be my problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. im stumped..

Does your pcm have any kind of aftermarket tune on it? What are your engine temps like. Is there any way you can get datamaster so you can save a data log of your driving info
