ls7
Anyone put a new LS7 out of a new Z06 in their camaro? If so how hard was the swap and do you have pictures?

yes, it was done by katech and GM performance parts.
Not that i want to, but here is a link to tech: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496186
Its not a very popular swap because the LS7 is verrrry expensive. You can get a 402 or 408 for about 1/3 the price and make the same power. Or even go LSX and it will still be cheaper.

Man I'm sure its quick but man you can build a 427 with a turbo system for about the same price you can get the LS7 alone. Would be nice if money was of no consequence though.

Crate is $14K last I heard.
I agree. The swap is so expensive, you can piece together a much stronger motor that makes more power for the same price.
Nothing against the LS7, but the Corvette makes that motor as impressive as it is.
Still a beautiful power curve, but add the 600 pounds of the F-Body, and that 440-450 RWHP isn't as powerful.2008 Trailblazer SS

how would reliability/driveability play into this?
Obviously you can build a motor for cheaper, but say i wanted a motor with alot of power but the same driveability and reliability as stock. What would be the best way to go?
I plan on doing a swap eventually, but the car is my DD in the summer and i sit in traffic alot with it. Just wondering what the best method would be.

I would say mine is pretty reliable....with a smaller cam it would be close to stock reliablilty. I run a large cam, so there are valvespring issues with mine. Not a problem, but I have to swap those springs every 15,000 miles or so, just to make sure.
I honestly think you can build a cheaper motor to make the same or more power (across the powerband) and keep the same reliability.

Putting an ls7 is way too expensive you can build motors with more power for less, its jsut a useless idea, unles you find one or get and amazing deal.

For the same price of the LS7 you can get a 572 from summit racing, that would give you about 800hp and thats considered stock hehe, but not for a DD car

only reason I asked was I know somebody that wrecked their new Zo6 and I have a chance at the motor. Only has 7,000 miles on it and can get it at a "Bargin" Just wanted to see how hard the swap might be and what I might need to complete the swap. Thanks All

You could boast all you want...right after I outrun ya with less cubes.
If I can beat the LS7 in a Z06, then I can for sure outrun the LS7 in an F-Body.
My motor was $4-5K less than the crate LS7.
Don't get me wrong, if the price is right, that motor could easily be a BEAST. And they are great motors as well. I just think swapping in an LS7 isn't the best bang for the buck.
Jay...the swap itself would be fairly simple. All the LSx blocks mount the same.

LS7's are over priced. I mean I know where I can get them for $11,800 but I would rather build an LSX.
