Woooot! Finished my first ever mod!

Well, I bought my bird a year ago in May, and I just now got around to doing a mod. I put an SLP airlid on yesterday, and damn does it feel satisfying to work on that car, even if it was just for half an hour. It went pretty well, (apart from the circle shaped bruise on my chest....) and I only had a few very small aggravations. Luckily I didn't break or bend anything though!

I plan on saving up for a full intake/exhaust system next. LS6 manifold/throttle body with the full exhaust system (headers, xpipes, no cats). After that will probably be a new rear end since I can already feel it getting loose (haven't decided between 3.73's and 4.10's yet, I still want streetability, since the highway I drive on daily is 75 MPH).

Sorry for the useless post, but I just had to tell someone that cared (my fiance is like )

I started with an airlid too. Now I'm thinking, oh damn what did I get myself into?

Check out the Rocky Mountain Section on the board if you haven't yet. We're planning a cruise for next weekend.

OOOO ok. Yeah, I know getting married pretty much means I will have no money for my car, let alone anything else... But I love her and I can live with being poor.

congrats on the mod, it gets pretty addictive though! i have my car for two years now, first i just wanted to get a catback and that's it... now i got a lid, hpp3, iridium plugs, tranny cooler, 18" rims, bilstein shocks and a cast rear end girdle (still in the box). thinking about a different muffler right now.

and yes: love is more important than cars!!!

Well I have big plans for my bird, I want to be in the 10's eventually. I just have to do it slowly (the modding, not the 1/4 mile), and I'm gonna do assloads of research before I do each upgrade.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

I remember the first mod i did on any of my cars, it was a cold air intake on my 99 mustang gt. The feeling of accomplishment was indescribable. Just dont let modding become an addiction. Its slowly becoming one for me, every paycheck i get seems to go towards mods.

what's the point of having grease on your hands if there are no open bloody spots for it to collect in??

To the original poster, buy a good set of tools up front if you don't own any currently. That should be your first mod. Nothing replaces having the right tool for the right job. Growing up I got pretty good at tool fabrication because I never had the right tool. I got a good set of tools as a x-mas present one year and it's amazing the difference it makes.
Also, unless you get the wife-to-be on board with the modding you're gonna be fighting her tooth and nail for car parts the rest of your life.

The answer to this is seperate bank accounts. Split up bills based on income, that way your extra money is yours to do what you want. Then you can do your mods instead of all the extra money going to wifes shoe collection.
