    Question MS3 camshaft and patriot 2.5 heads(help)

lookin into buying a head and cam combo and i want somethin i can drive every day at least 120 miles a day. will it hurt my motor with 100,000 miles on my car. i love the way the ms3 sounds and i know i can lay down very descent power numbers on the dyno with cnc ls6 heads and that cam . what do u guys think of patriot heads. i want that real rough idle so what lobe sep would yall recommend? A4 no stall 2.73s plan on 3.42s or 3.73s. tranny plans in future. 2500 stall ......... Any advice would be helpful.

Make sure the heads aren't shaved or there will be PTV issues with that cam. Call the guys and talk to them to make sure. 100,000 miles shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you do more than just the cam. Valvesprings, pushrods etc, oil pump and timing chain all need to go with the cam change. My MS3 is a 114 and it is still very rough. I drove mine on the weekends 100 miles so you should be good there too. Once you get it do the stall/rear change soon as you will feel like you are actually loosing power for the first few seconds with those gears/stall. I changed my stall and rear end before the cam so I couldn't tell ya exactly how it felt but with the 4.11's and 3600 stall it's bliss. At least 3K on the stall I'd actually recommend 3500ish and at least 3.73's. A tune is also going to be a must. The cpu will shut you down before you get good in the power band.

Yeah just got back from the track and posted a best of 13.2@106mph i hooked good but who isnt with stock 2.73s. so far i have free mods, delete on cats, air pump, egr, and tuned out w hp tuner. hooker LTs, ORY, Loud Mouth 2 exhaust, and slp underdrive pulley, mti lid. I have motive 3.73s still in the box im hoping to get high 12s when i get them installed. those stock gears r killing . how much more of a diff will i feel jumping from 2.73s to 3.73s? Ive decided to go with the ms3 with a 3000stall unless yall know of a cam that will make more power with a 3000 stall any help will be appreciated. I should hit around mid 400s on the dyno with heads and cam right?

The 3.73's will make a significant difference, especially if you go with a MS3. From a power standpoint, with a nice set of heads and a good tune you should be able to hit 420 - 440 rwhp in a stalled A4 (all depends on the dyno, the car, the heads and the tune).

Depending on what you're looking to accomplish, if you would like to keep the 3000 stall, the Trick Flow cam listed below in my sig might also be a good fit. It's a bit smaller than the MS3 and it keeps the power lower in the band (great for the street). If you're looking for consistent performance (a screamer up top) and great power numbers on the dyno, the MS3 is a GREAT choice.

I'd use Texas Speeds PRC heads instead of the Patriots myself. You're getting the cam from them anyways so, why not?
