Electronic Traction Control

Is it possible to install the factory Electronic Traction Control in a 1998 Camaro SS that didn't have it from the factory? The car will be a daily driver here in Colorado. I'vedone several searchs and so far haven't found anything of use.

The traction control is integrated in the ECU/PCM and ABS Braking system. In order to install it on a car that didn't come with it as an option, you are probably looking at some serious work and a lot of money.

You would probably have to swap out the ECU and convert from the current 3 channel braking system to a 4 channel, and I have no idea how much work is involved with that.

Bottom line - its just not worth it.

Thanks for the info... I'm currently looking at a 1998 Camaro SS T-top without it and a 2000 Trans-Am WS-6 convertable with it.

No prob.

Don't buy one car over the other car just because of traction control. Choose the car you truly like best, regardless. My car doesn't have TC, and its really not a big deal. With the 6 speed, you can really modulate the power well; with a good set of tires you'll be fine winter or summer. I have Eagle F1 GS 285/40 tires on my car for summer, and traction isn't a problem provided that its decently warm out.

dont worry about the traction control. i have driven my car in the snow and turn it off to drive. my driveway turns into a skating rink when it snows and if left on i cannot move from my driveway.
