    Installing aftermarket speakers

The speakers in the sail panels of my '98 formula with the monsoon system are blown. I was going to replace them with a set of Sony Xplode's from Wal-Mart (Cheap and easily avalible at 2 am when I decided to do this)
The 4 input wires have me stumped, is there a way I can just splice the factory wiring into the speakers? The back of the speaker that I took out of the car says 4 ohm, 4 ohm. Does this mean that the woofer an the tweeter are both 4 ohm?

The rear seat speakers are (pardon me while I laugh) factory subwoofers with dual 4ohm voice coils. If you replace them with after-market speakers you can only use one set of the factory wires going to each subwoofer. There are no mids or treble in these wires so your new speakers will not reproduce any sound in this range. The woofers will only reproduce the lows.

Ok, Thanx. I'm guesing that for the other speakers, they'll be the 2ohm speakers, right? Would it be better (easier and cheaper) to replace all of my existing speakers with new dual input ones, or to replace the HU and all of the speakers with new ones?

I have a VERY low opinion of the POS Monsoon system so if it were up to me I would remove every piece and throw it into the trash.

Only the door speakers are 2 ohms. The hatch qarea speakers are 4 ohms. There are very few after-market speakers with dual voice coils like the factory subwoofers. If you do a search on this forum you might find a thread where someone found some after-market speakers that have dual VC's.
