Can rearend gears be decoded from the VIN?

No, look on your RPO codes on your drivers side door. Look for a GU#. that will tell your what ratio you have.I do not have the break down of what is what, I am sure someone will chime in.

The RPO code GU5 was for performance axle, should be on the drivers door.
