IMO the auto would be much better for drag, M6 for track. But I like the M6 for the fun to drive factor. It really depends on what you want the car for.

I wish it was that easy....Once you get your auto doing 1.57 60's foots it also runs into deathly wheel hop!!! Thats were I'm at now.

The auto is definatly easier for a un experianced driver. But at the same aspect I could launch a M6 much better with street tires than the auto.

THERE IS NO SUBSITUTE FOR BEING ABLE TO SIDE STEP THE CLUTCH AT 5500rpm ALSO!!! Even if it's on street tires walking sidways as it milks the tires off and leaves molten rubber behind.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

My wife and I test drove the auto and manual. The six speed was much more fun!

    6 Speed All The Way!!!!

Driving an automatic muscle/sports car is for typical lazy asses!!!! There is only one way to drive......tearing through gears, laying down patches of rubber, and having complete driving control. Plus it is just more FUN!!!!!!!!! Only with a manual can you control the shift points on the transmission. Just my two cents.

    Cool No Diss!!!

I'm just sayin' that the majority of people out there don't know how to drive a manual trans, so when they go and buy that "dream" car they get the auto. For me it is all about the thrill and rush about driving. Driving an auto sports car just isn't exciting. Know what I mean Vern?

i got an auto in my new 06 gto. its great. and like on my trans am with a stage 3 shift kit 3000 stall and fully built tranny. trying to keep the thing on the road is fun enough for me and faster than anyone trying to shift. but if i wasnt racing and didnt have to worry about houston traffic the m6 will be a nice choice.

But at the same aspect I prefer a clutch. As I've always stated there is NO subsitute for side stepping the clutch at 6000.
And if your not a broke ass you can buy a PRO SHIFTED TKO for all you that aren't the best skilled shifters!!!!
I went for the auto on the GOAT due to the IRS.

I went for the Auto in the 02 only because of cost.. I couldn't see spending 6 grand more for the 6-speed (the only one in the area I could find) But plan on swapping in a 6-speed into my 3rd gen......
