Car won't start

checked the battery so far. i have power when i turn the key and lights work and stuff but no clicking sound when i try to crank but it does make a sort of loud sound......what could the problem be? bad starter?

I'd check the starter. It may not be engaging the flywheel/flexplate. You don't have a security light, do you? If so, then your VATS system is the problem.

nope no security light and how would i check to see if its engaging? could i fix this my self?

Pull the starter off and take it to your local O Reilly's or AutoZone and have them check it.
