    Wheel size of 95 z28

I am thinking of getting some black c5 z06 wheels for my 95 camaro. the rim sizes I want are 17 x 9.5 in front and 18 x 10.5 in back. What size tires should I get that fit well but are wide. I am looking at 245 x 45 x 17 (front)
275 x 35 x 18 in the back. Will these fit well? Also will the different wall height in the front and back look stupid. Any input would help. Thanks!

Stock 95z28 rims were 16"*8". if you are going to a 17" wheel in the front your tire size needs to be 275/40/17. for the rear size you are going steeping from a 16" to an 18" rim means to keep the stock tire height you need to go to a 30 series tire (275/30/18; 285/30/18). if you go with a 35 series tire it will be taller tire diameter on the rear once combined with the 18" rim...

If I go with the the ones that I mentioned above will they fit and will they fill the wheel well better?

acutally those tires sizes are a little off. for the 17 x 9.5 i would put a 275/40-17. for the rear, to keep the overall diameter the same, go with a 285/35-18.

    looking stupid is up to your tastes. i have the Y2K C5 wheels on both cars. 17 x 8.5 and 18 x 9.5 with 245/45-17 and 285/35-18.

yeah, sorry i missed that part, to keep them close to proportion front/rear (optical confusion) you would want to go with 35 series tires for the rear like MRR23 said. my bad. I was saying 30 series to keep stock specs after wheel change...

    tires size

I have been doing more research. How does 255 x 40 x 17 (front) and
    285 x 35 x 18 (rear) sound?

Also, I am looking between the BFG KDS 2's and Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-DS. The prices are close to the same. Any suggestions.

255 on a 17"9.5" rim is to narrow of a front tire. stock 17"*9" wheels that came on the SS were fitted with 275's. stick with 275's, you will be happy that you did. that extra tread with will help to also protect the rim lip should you like to hit on curbs from time to time...

i have these on the front:

read the tire size equivalents sticky. to keep the factory 25.7" tall diameter, the 283/35-18 is 25.6" tall. a 285/30-18 will be in the range of 25" tall.

255/40-17 are 25.1" tall the 285/35-18 are 25.6" tall. this can affect your ABS system and cause braking issues.

both are good tires. up to you on what would look better.

i agree on this part. the 255 would go on the 9.5" wheel, but would be stretching it out. the 275/40-17 is a lot better fitment for a 9.5" wide wheel.

no they wont. i had a set of the aluminum SS 10 spokes on my old 95z28 and never had rubbing issues with 275/40/17's on all 4 corners...

shouldn't. depends on how far the offset is on the wheels you are getting. the OE corvette wheels have a little more inward offset compared to the factory SS wheels. this may let it hit the sway bar on a full lock turn. you'll only be doing this when parking anyway, so doesn't matter.

as far as the fenderwell plastic part, no.

thanks guys for all of you help.

Do you have an opinion on what brand of tires to use. It will see only summer time conditions and some track time (not a lot maybe 30 trips) may see very little rain if caught out in it. NO winter time conditions.

one other thing to mention. if these are factory wheels, you will need to grind the inside hub of the rear wheels to go over the mating hub on the axle. the LT1 rears have a larger diameter center hub vs the front. in 98 they fixed that and made the hub centers the same.

i'm a BFG fan. the GS-D3 do have a great looking tread pattern.

is the grinding the inside of the hub very easy also, I will probably get them mounted an balanced at a tire place would they be able to do this?

Thanks for all of your help

if its a summer car, then you should be able to get by with the Nitto's (275/40/17 for the front) that I linked you too, and the Nitto DR's (315/35/17 for the rear). I had both those on my SS when I bought her, and unfreakin reall hook up and go. Boils down for you to personal preference and $$$...

I always look at tire ratings/price/style, owner comments, etc. tirerack.com is a good place to read up...

did you have to do anything to make the 315's fit in the back. Also I just bought the rims and they are 10.5 X 18 in the rear. how wide could I go in the back with out modding.
