stock vs. stock a manual will be faster in most cases, but thats always a huge debate.

But when modified no one can deny that an auto is faster. You should put a shift kit in your car, a stall, and maybe a trans cooler. Then you should be set. Will be a night and day difference.

our site sponsors sell them. such as thunder racing - i really like them. I'm a manual guy so go check out the automatic part of the drivetrain section for more help on that. But you already have one from the factory its just not a very performance oriented one. I think your rear gears are 3.46 which is pretty good, but can be upgraded.

check the car specs on the side of the driver's door should be a sheet with codes, one will tell you which gear ratio u got, GU3=2.73 and GU5=3.23 for auto, at least that's GM codes for LS1... so then upgrade ro 3.73 gears and 3000-3200 stall. or more if you go to drag strip a lot 3400-3600 stall.

welcome to LS1.com btw , take you're time to search the forums per topics and within a few weeks of reading the tech threads you should be pretty informed on the basics at least.

Also get a handheld tuner and tune out torque management and you can tighten up and change your shift points.

A manual wouldn't be 'alot' faster.

In the hands of an 'average' driver, both cars being equal, the auto would be quicker.

It's not as if your car is slow........

I know on the vetts, and I'm sure it's the same for the goat the m6 is .3 seconds faster, and in the hands of an above average driver (which we all think we are) m6 is best. Plus it gets better hwy. mpg, and is alot better road racing. If they put the vettes new A6, that would be alot closer. If your just drag racing the moddified auto is the hands done best choice.

Take it to a Good tuner and get them to boost up the line pressure and turn off your tq. management which willn make a HUGE difference!! And it will make it more fun to drive. Yes a stall will make it quicker...... But there are LOTS of other mods I would do first! You can go LOW 11's with your stock convertor.

Your looking at .2-.4 tenths difference on A4/M6 depending on drivers.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Increasing or decreasing the line pressure on a OEM tranny is the quickest way to burning up a clutch pack.

    stock n paid for

GTO in reality is not all that much heavier than a full tilt loaded F Body. put a TCI 3500 in your car, Leave the gears alone because they are super expensive to do and not necessary. I guarentee you with a stall you will fry tires!
