    Question power steering help

i have a 96 trans am with an lt1, and yesterday i was driving my car, and i turned around and whenever i was turning aroung my power steerging was fine, but after i got straight, my power steering didnt work at all , so whenever i got home ,i checked and no leeks at all, and fluid is ok, but i seen that my belt is halfway on my pully, and whenever i give my car gas or rev it up the pully goes outward like its going to come off ,but never flings off, and whenver i let off the gas, the pully goes back to normal???? Has anyone had this problem or know whats up with it , i have never had anything like this before happen, it acts like the pully is going to come all the way off and almost does, but its doesnt and the goes back but the belt is still half way on.....
    thanks

the pump driveshaft is broken inside the pump. you stand a good chance of destroying other parts if you continue to drive it and the pully does come off. most importantily you are risking great harm to you and others as you run the engine looking at it should that pully come off!!!!!!!
    change the pump.

yeah what lightingrod said i had it happen to my chevy truck when you replace the pump i would replace the pully cause it was hard to mine off and when i did it was messed up when you take the belt off you should be able to grab the pully and pull on it and the pully and the shaft will come out
