What is the difference, besides the 100hp???
Does anyone know what the mechanical difference is between the LS1 & LS2? I just bought a 2001, WS6, Trans AM. I love this car. It is faster than I thought it would be, but I find myself wanting more power. What are some upgrades that I can make to the motor that won't be too intrusive to the motor? I don't want to void my extended warranty. I will if I have to, but I would rather not.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
for starters, the LS2 block is a bigger bore [383, ls1 = 346]
You can rip off the stock manifolds and slap on a set of headers and free-er flowing exhaust for one. You have an 01 so you have an ls6 intake, like the c5 z06's. I'd say rip off the stock air lid and replace with a clear lid and k&N filter, maybe go the extra to port n polish your throttle body and Mass air flow.
You might void your warrenty though. Pretty much once you make a modification you have void your warrenty.

yea, third shift studios has some good recommendations. btw the LS2 only has around 50rwhp on LS1. Also, if you have an M6, a short throw shifter is a fun mod and why not lower it and get SFC and STB?

LS2 makes about 35 RWHP more than the 2002 LS1 through the T56.
Some sensor locations are different, bore is different.
LS1 = 346
LS2 = 364
More power?? Keep internals stock? Headers, catback, LS6 intake came stock on your year car so you don't need that, airbox lid, suspension to help it stick instead of spin.2008 Trailblazer SS

Agreed would look into SFCs as stated above as well. Also new LCAs to grip better. I have a fairly stock set-up and have problems with traction. LOTS of wheel hop. I was informed by a couple people at the track that LCAs and the tourque arm replacment would cure alot of that.

Thanks for the info. I have another question?????
My car is an automatic and I use it as my daily driver. I commute about 100 miles a day so changing my rearend gears is out of the question. I am buying Hotchkis subframe connectors, a flowmaster, and some Hotchkis lowering springs on Dec 1st. I would like some recomendations on more power. Also, I am thinking about putting some 18" C5 Corvette wheels on this baby and I'm not sure about a tire size. I have 275/40/17 all the way around right now and I dont want to lose any width as far as cornering goes. Any recomendations??????

My first recomendation would be Magnaflow LONG before Flowmaster.
I prefer a 17" wheel on these cars. They have more sidewall and just look better on the car in my opinion.
