I like my 2006 Kenwood x790, can be found for $160 area now on ebay new and sounds excellent. Every option you would ever need, mp3, 5 volt outs, aux input for whatever, full control over freq and subwoofer..g tech type meter built in(I never tested it though), can customize display and display colors. works with sat radio like most nowdays. I really like the newer Kenwood stereo's..

I blew $400 on a pioneer DEH-7800 premier, its nice AND QUALITY but i like alpine better because they are more user friendly, my head unit you HAVE to use the remote cuz theres only 4 buttons on the H.U.
I would never spend $400 again on a hu, dont even spend over $200, spend the rest of the money on replacing all your speakers with aftermarket ones--i put 6 new kenwoods in, its so much better!!

what kind of replacement speakers did you get? i just want some to replace the stock ones in the same location and everything nothing wild with a crazy sub or anything. could you guys give me some names/part numbers and a cheap place to get the stuff? also is it good to go somewhere like best buy or circuit city to get the stuff installed?

Not as easy to replace the speakers in a T/A and get good sound. Our setup is odd in these cars.. in back seat you have dual voice coil speakers and the front doors have a 2 ohm woofer and 4 ohm tweeeter.. then the far rear hatch speakers are 4 ohm. If you just put some 4 ohm standard speakers in the door, then sound will see less than stock if they are not really efficient. In the back seat the woofer is DVC and if you get a 4 ohm speaker, then same issue. Look through some past posts and see what others have went with that worked out. If it were me, I would get some Infinity kappa series in the door(components), but I never really researched the particular model that will fit in the T/A since I have a Camaro. Sailpanel, I am not sure what they are going with that works well.

i dont think u could beat this deal: http://walmart.scosche-cars.com/prod...ductID=4744710
its not a "get what u pay for" deal. i had it in my lumina, and it was awesome. its not as good as some $200 head units, but its amazing for its price... if thats all ur lookin for...
if u dont believe me, ask (01raptorTA). he now has my lumina and can also vouch for it bein a great head unit

I love my Alpine deck. Sure, it cost me about $500 (their newest model at the time), but (1) I wanted a deck that I could control my iPod from, and (2) I needed a deck that illuminated red.

Unfortunately, I haven't tried connecting anything else to the deck other than my iPod. But from what I've heard, most other MP3 players would just require an FM modulator to be hooked up to play them. But, I wanted to control mine from the deck itself.

is there any head units out there that you can keep the uses of the buttons on the wheel or do you have to lose that in ourder to use an after market one?
