    Nitrous cam question?

What is the best streetable cam to go with a 150 shot for my 02 Z28 A4, I will be running a 3600 stall converter and header back exhaust.

Is this a good cam Comp Cams, 224/224 .581/.581 LSA 112+0?

Can anybody recommend a cam that will give me good gains on motor and nitrous.

Hey whats up, my 00 ss has a thunder racing 224/224 cam .563/.563 LSA 112. I am currently spraying a 125 shot and hope to upgrade to a 175 in the spring. Don from Dez racing said that this would be the best streetable cam for my car without doing headwork. And since you will have headers (I dont) you will gain a lot more hp with the juice. My car with cats, factory manifolds, and a regular ls1 intake made 466 rwhp and 525 rwtq on the juice. Good luck and let me know how things go

keeping a wide LSA is more important when choosing a cam for nitrous. if you scan through the comp catalog, you'll notice the nitrous cams will have the same basic profile with a 113 LSA usually. overall, it's a minor difference.

recommending cams isn't an easy task when you don't know what all that surrounds it. so, to help us out, list what you have done motor wise. and 'streetable' is relative to what you can put up with.

Ok this is what im gonna run, Pacesetter longtubes, offroad y-pipe, hooker catback, 3600 stall with a STR of 2.2, lid, smooth bellow, ported stock t-body, shift kit with cooler, I can put up with lots as far as driveablility, it will be mostly a track car after the summer when I move to phoenix, if there is anything else that you need to know I will tell you.

well, something in the 224/228 range would be where i'd go. personally. i think i'll be going with the vinci 060 cam in my 00 formula.

    DUR @ .050" 228*/ 232*

    LSA 112*

    TUNING & STALL CONVERTER REQUIRED
    MONSTER DYNO NUMBERS
    ROUGH IDLE

The cam you are comsidering is pretty decent, and about the top of the "daily driver' grinds. If you are really going to make it a track car, as you post later, how much real street driving are you going to do? How much of the time do you plan on bottling it?

I'd say, put the juice to it now, do all of your supporting mods like headers, converter, etc. The stock cam has more exhaust duration to help expel the gases + a wide lobe separation to reduce overlap.

Once you get to phoenix when it will be your track car, get comps advice on what they recommend. You might want more than a 224* cam will produce. You may want to go all the way up to something in the 230*-236* range on a 114* lobe separation.
