Newbie-overhaul question
Hi guys. Nice forum from what I can tell so far.
I am currently rebuilding an LS1 for my friend that spun a bearing during an autocross (I was driving at the time). What I'd like to know is if you guys have any concerns that I might not be aware of. I'm an old cast iron V8 guy from way back (68 SS Camaro was my first car/rebild), so I've got some concerns on the new engine block and procedures.
The car owner wants to keep cost low, remain completely stock (honest SS competitor) and expects to sell the car in the next couple of years. Car has well over 90m on the motor, but this thing looks great inside. Cyclinder walls are near perfect, rings test out as excellent, the entire valve train has almost no ware at all. We lost the motor due to an overheat problem. We were making runs 3 or 4 minutes apart. It spun one connecting rod bearing, and the one beside it suffered a little. Other than that, the mains are perfect. At this point, I'm thinking full set of stock bearings, gaskets, and a good cleaning along with putting it back together exactly as the GM manual suggests.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

If there is no scoring on the cylinder walls, and everything looks ok, then I would put some stock bearings in and put it back together.
