depends. either 2.73 (GU2) or 3.23 (GU5). look on the driver's door for those RPO codes to see.

would be on the drivers door, white label.Otherwise you are going to take the cover off and look if its a "REAL" ws6 it should be 3.42 with a auburn carrier i believe.non ws6 will be 2.73 with a torsen carrier.

Only the 6-speeds had the 3.42 option.
Autos could only come with the 2.73, 3.08, or 3.23 gears.
And it doesn't matter if the car was a WS6 or regular TA, they could come with any gear ratio, unless its an auto (which didn't have 3.42, as mentioned earlier).

    GU2 Axle, Rear 2.73 Ratio
    GU3 auto tranny,
    GU4 Axle, Rear 3.08 Ratio
    GU5 Axle, Rear 3.23 Ratio
    GU6 Axle, Rear 3.42 Ratio
G80 Axle, Rear Posi-traction (Limited Slip)

    93-02 RPO codes for f-bodies.

I agree, just get some 3.73's. I put them in mine, and it made a heck of a difference.

If you're sure its stock look at the driveshaft. 2.73 cars got a steel shaft, 3.23 cars got the aluminum shaft.

If you're really curious, jack the back end of your car up, and turn the back wheels by hand and count how many times the driveshaft turns for every revolution of the tire.

The only way a an auto model would have a 3.42 gear set is if they either pulled an assembly off of a manual car, or changed the gear in their own diff'.

From the factory, V8 autos only had a choice of 2.73 or 3.23. Manual V8's (post 1993) only had an option of the 3.42 gears.
