    Service Engine Light.... Help

Okay. So my boyfriend was driving his 1999 Trans am and he let his friend try and do a burn out in it. It is a M6 and it is a WS6. Now when his friend went to do a burn out, the car refused to spin it's tires. (burn outs have been done in this car before) After the cars tires wouldnt spin, the TCS OFF light came on and so did the SERVICE ENGINE light. When we went to turn the TCS back on, the switch wouldnt work. He took his car back to the apartment and let it sit for maybe an hour. When he went to start it again, everything was back to normal. This was about a month or so ago. Now about a week ago, when he was driving it down the road, the TCS switch shut off again and all the warning lights were back on. Again, the TCS Switch wouldnt work and it got us worried. It hasnt done it again since, but if anyone can tell me why it did it in the first place. That would be great. Thanks

Was the TCS on when he tried to do the burn out? How hard did he try to do a burnout, when it refused to turn the tires? I know in my Camaro with ASR on the rear tires will do almost no spinning no matter what conditions. If I want to do a burn out I turn the ASR off and barely have to touch the pedal, God forbid if it is wet out. I can't control the ass end with wet pavement and ASR off, unless I only want to go straight. I don't know how they did it in 99 but my 01 is all electronic and it will actually kick the pedal back up. So it is entirely possible that if he tried really hard to burn out that something electronic could be jacked up.

have the code read at a auto parts store...could be many things wrong with the ASR. Probably just the sensor...but he could of jacked up the axel but I doubt it

Yea, he definitely turned the TCS off so that the traction control wouldnt kick in during the burn out. I will look into reading the code. Thanks for your help

Did you ever find out your problem with this? I have the same problems with TCS and Check Engine lights. Mine happens at higher speeds and have engine code P0121.
